What to watch at MMD Cup 12

12th MikuMikuDance Cup is going on, it’s voting time now. This time the Cup was named “Expansion”. But no expansion happened actually, there are 765 works submitted vs 843 last time :) Still, 765 works is a SHEER FUCKING HUGE amount, about fifty hours length altogether!

I’ll try to bring out for you the most amusing ones. Picking carefully those of interest for the audience with below zero Japanese knowledge (like me). The first load is here! Under the cut you’ll find quite a mixed bunch of videos, from ancient arcade RPG to the Polaroid camera mystery… :)

Druaga no tou [Hatsune Miku]

Dungeon-crawling with a lengthy history. Black Knight-san has modernized it a bit – the party mode, yay! From watching the gameplay video I assumed Teto is the tank, but damn, who is the cleric? Hachune, isn’t she? :)

Vocaloid cover of Kamelot's song. A quick warning before you’ve started watching: it’s better watched muted or with the original playing in the back :) Yeah, Meiko’s Engrish, you’d better save your ears… As from the visual side, it’s mighty MMD – Band Edition. Together with Meiko, IA, Luka, Sweet Ann and Iroha are performing. For the former four  Charuko’s models are being used, relatively uncommon and looking quite impressive. IA seems to be the most winning girl on the stage – lead guitar, that’s serious business! :)

There DO exist headcanons where Reimu is a sane, reasonable person. But so far I haven’t encountered any of them… :)

An elegant story about… well, about Polaroid camera. The atmosphere is awesome. It could be noire given this theme, it could be creepy, but no, it’s just like some magic diffused in the air…
