Hakaine Maiko - Yasuraka ni hazero

Listening to Maiko’s vocals synthesized by SHEBA (also known as Shiiba Eiji) is a pure audio pleasure. Not to say instrumentals are bad – a heavy mix of industrial and thrash metal. Guest guitar solo by Mr. Hot Cake also makes a hit, swaying the sound more towards thrash. Excellent work!

The title translates as ‘Blow up calmly!’ (yes, imperative).

IA - Nemurenai toki no uta

What is the most appropriate way to express your precious frustrated feelings about insomnia robbing you of your righteous sleep? Deathcore, naturally! While the new song by Uhen-san may not be on par with top mainstream products of the genre, it definitely strikes the right note in one thing. Vocals. Fascinating job! No, really, it’s been awhile since I’ve heard extreme vocals made so impressive. Definitely waiting for more (and ‘more’ means also some fifty times in depth of lyrics :p )

ONE - Mou, unzari

Industrial metal with rather dense and edgy sound. ONE’s voice, distant and cold, seems to be the perfect choice for that kind of music.

GUMI - Jormungand

A dose of wild and ferocious djent from Rusan Maruchino. The sound is heavily infused with electronics, cool job. Finally, finally Gumi’s lyrics are of the darkest shade of angst! ;)

Minagoroshi no magic - cover by Michizane & Houshi

In the absence of new worthy works from Vocaloid producers, utaites step in to keep on the buzz. This is Utsu-P’s “Minagoroshi…”, sung by a classy duet. We’ve met with the guys once – when they covered “Baka wa anomaly ni akogareru”. So this time Michizane and Houshi rock again, with the former responsible for the great, ‘open’ and intense screaming, and the latter propping up the ‘clean’ parts.

Megurine Luka - I am a N.E.E.T.

Two years ago Mr. 69P posted a couple of works (choose your fav: nu metal, screamo, deathcore), and showed what proper sound environment for Luka should be. Sadly, the producer kept a grave silence since then. We’ve already lost our last hope, but the MIRACLE has happened – 69P-sama is with us again, and his new song is no less fucking brilliant that the old ones!

Well, we’re facing some losses, of course. The song cries badly for re-mastering. It shouts it right in your ear! In fact, you have to have some decent audio equipment to squeeze the maximum from this sound mess, but damn! Even this way it sounds fantastic! A perfect storming screamo, raging and loud yet deeply emotional.

So Luka is a NEET despite she can make quite the different impression :) Oh yeah, and Yuyoyuppe’s song “I am a superman” comes to the mind quite naturally. Both songs has similar harsh sounding. Only ‘Yuppe’s piece has quite the opposite meaning :) So can 69P’s work be a kinda answer to Yuppe’s? ;)

Hatsune Miku - engraved bruize

90% of metalcore + 10% of picoreamo equals to 156% of pure fucking awesomeness. Yeah, this is the math for serious music ;) Lego-sama has released his next masterpiece. Not to mention he’d forgotten to tell Miku that in masterpieces you should work better on balancing the levels of vocal; the higher frequencies are so pushed that sometimes it sounds like Miku’s hissing :) Yeah, like a cobra feeling someone’s stepped on her tail. Though Miku would likely hiss as well if you stepped on her twintails except she won’t bite you. Or maybe she will ;)

I hope Miku isn’t offended by my suggestions, for the vocals part sounds great enough otherwise. The video (by Junto Kurokawa-sama) is made in best metalcore traditions and with a great skill. So if you’re still wondering where this 56% has come from, the answer is simple. Synergy. It makes wonders, guys ;)

Hatsune Miku - Shi noshinkou

Death metal is a rare thing when it comes to Vocaloid. The ultimate, extreme variety of death metal is even rarer. The flawless, perfect, sheer fucking tsunami of death metal is of particular deficit, but here it is – thanks to F_HotCake_20m. Enjoy. If you are tough enough.

Hakaine Maiko - Destroy

There is not much Vocaloid metalcore (and even less UTAU), so the every song is kinda an event. Kaori’s piece has a nice djent-y flavor. It is sheer fucking wall of noise, all that Maiko’s mechanical-sounding screaming, tireless percussion and gut-wrenching guitars. Yeah, the guitars most of all. Because the mix has horrible, merciless overload in trebles. Ohh… So, guys, an official warning from VMW: THIS is destructive in the physical sense of the word as well :)

The favorite thing to do for Maiko on her birthday is to smash old TVs with a hammer. Because, you know, it is so meditative, so relaxing occupation… ;)

Hatsune Miku & Hakaine Maiko - (KY) Hon'ne to totemae (KY)

Perfectly wild thrash metal. With a hint or two of grindcore. OK, OK, grindcore isn’t measured by hints, I know, let’s say a streak :) Of all the zoo the most crazy is not Maiko (sigh), and not Miku (even sadder sigh) but bassu ;) Well, bassu is important too, so I’m not complaining…

I could be mistaken, but I see Miku is very ashamed of something on this pic. I wonder of what? ;)

Hatsune Miku - compensation

Wow, what an exquisite song! It sounds completely off mainstream. Yeah, alternative metal maybe, only you should forget about any alternative metal you’ve heard before :p . Crazy synth sequences mix perfectly with superb vocal part. LuvI-san is torturing Miku naturally, forcing her to pitch the voice up to the extremes. But you know: no pain, no gain :)

Minagoroshi no magic - cover by Washakku

An excellent cover of “Minagoroshi…”, I bet not the last in my collection. Washakku’s voice range let him down only on the very final part, but obviously that’s not his fault, it is Utsu-P taken too high notes ;)

GUMI - Minagoroshi no magic

Utsu-P as he is. Rhythmic noises, utterly destructive and perfectly awesome. ‘Minagoroshi’ in the title translates as ‘slaughter’. And no, I’m totally clueless why all the eggs ;)

LOSER - cover by Nanmin

No worthy original Vocaloid work has been released recently, so nothing left but to post some good covers. I hope I’m not abusing you with lesxpaulx too much :) Because to break the silence you need something really LOUD. Well, “LOSER” is one of the lesxpaulx’ most prominent songs in that sense. Nanmin’s version of it is formidable! The guy has excellent skill, both in screaming and in mixing. This is the second version of cover actually, the first one he posted last year’s summer.

Black Label - cover by Hakaine Maiko

“Lamb Of God”, my friends. Almost 14 years has passed from the release of the album where the song was, and still it sounds pretty decent today. Shiiba Eiji has replaced Randy Blythe with Hakaine Maiko. Can’t say digital Maiko sounds better than live Randy, but the cover is definitely well done anyway.

Hatsune Miku - Finale

Matsuyo has been releasing Vocaloid covers recently, this time it’s a work for L'Arc-en-Ciel Cover Festival. You may ask me: who the fuck are L'Arc-en-Ciel? Well, if you don’t know them (as I hope), you’d better stay un-aware. And if you do, the cover may make you shit bricks frustrate you.

Because Matsuyo has wrapped everything in thick, full-blown layers of cruel metalcore. Fuck, it grinds! Miku’s singing matches perfectly with the slightly changed atmosphere. While in the original Hyde tries desperately to show us how passionate his feelings are but succeed only in making me hit stop button in an utter disgust after 30 seconds (and I’m not that touchy when it comes to music), Miku is just flat depressive. I haven’t heard such a depressive tone from Vocaloid for a long time. Depression and despair. You know, guys, somehow this makes Miku’s variant much more natural.

IA - Dead Metropolis

For me, when speaking about Vocaloid metalcore, lesxpaulx is a synonym for ‘perfection’. “Dead Metropolis” isn’t an exception. Head-slamming brutal, brisk, uncompromising and surgically precise. And IA, yes. “Aria on the Planetes”. Oh, how well it suits there ;))))  There might be only one drawback: the song ends too damn soon...
