Listening
to Maiko’s vocals synthesized by SHEBA (also known as Shiiba Eiji) is a
pure audio pleasure. Not to say instrumentals are bad – a heavy mix of
industrial and thrash metal. Guest guitar solo by Mr. Hot Cake also makes a
hit, swaying the sound more towards thrash. Excellent work!
The title
translates as ‘Blow up calmly!’ (yes, imperative).
While the mood of this hard rock song isn’t exclusively melancholic, there are some certain somber notes around. Anyway, the visuals of ink dissolving in water may just set the right atmosphere… at least if you like to watch dissolving ink ;)
A perfection in simplicity: the latest song from ensou is built so solid you won’t find a single flaw. The sound is absolutely delicious! The bass drums. Deliver. Punch. BOOM! ;) Guitars are not so punchy (why would they?) but they put their weight rather well too :) Top this with GUMI’s edgy voice and you get some pretty killer song!
A beautiful
(as always) mellow post-hardcore arrange from Yokomin with beautiful (as always)
Yukari’s vocals. What’s new (at least for me) is Yokomin himself singing along
with Yukari too. Why, the guy has great voice :) I could even say Yukari and
Yokomin-san match together so well! (insert some sweet emoji here)
Last but
not the least, today’s Yokomin 22th birthday! VMW wishes the producer lots of
joy, even more energy and for all even wildest his dreams to come true! We
believe in you, man! :)
If you
prefer more melodic varieties of heavy music, let’s turn to IA’s cousin, ONE.
Kiesca (aka Yandere-P) has released (after a year-long break) a nice symphonic
metal piece full of piano, guitar solos and similar stuff. Can’t say anything
bad about ONE’s vocals either. Though they belong to the other end of the
spectrum – instead of IA’s blood-curdling screams we have mellowness, gentleness
and cushiness. Whocoodanode – visually the girls seem to be almost the same :)
Hidaritsuu=Cast-P
and his brand deviant power metal. Well, this time deviant enough to be
considered not safe for work. We should thank blame the artist, Yagi-san, for
it. Otherwise, the music is not that big of an issue unless your colleagues
understand Japanese. Speaking of music, Hidaritsuu is fantastic, as always! The
bass guitar must be wielded by Ultraman himself! ;)
A beautiful
lyrical ballad by Nora and Ram. A lot of melodic acoustic guitar play, quite a
little heavy distorted parts… And Lily who sounds surprisingly good (now that’s
a real marvel ;)
Okame-P-sama.
Blows Up. Your. Mind. For those who still have their mental abilities (relatively)
intact while listening to this picoreamo porn, try to count the number of
different music genres crammed into this one song :)
Miku seems
to be unmoving (and yes, she’s awesome). Well, she’s android; that explains
everything… :)
Another
work from 2016 Rock Song Vocaloid Arrange festival. Originally performed by
GO!GO!7188. This one has faaaaar way more life and jauntiness in it, busting
those Visual-key posers as easily as you please. Oh, and Kokone is marvelous!
Enjoy!
Great releases
keep coming from Russia. We should thank Sander-P (or Alexander Pivnev if you
prefer real names) for the latest one. It took eight months of work – hard
work, to be sure – but the outcome proves to be worth the time invested.
Your
steaming hot portion of Friday fun has arrived! This is a special from our
chief, Utsu-P. The serving includes: brutal guitar sound, mid-tempo for extra
chunkiness, gut-wrenching breakdown, Rin-chan trying to dance in the middle of the dish and a pair of
chopsticks. Enjoy yourself!
An update
from Chariot The Tuneful circle, their first in 2016. The guys behind the circle
are knot (music) and Meiden (lyrics and visuals). To say the guys are awesome
is to say nothing; their previous tracks are among the sickest and boldest the
scene ever created!
For now
Chariot The Tuneful takes it down a notch. ‘Light and Shadow’ doesn’t dive into
the bottomless abyss of ever increasing brutality. Still it boasts exceptional
sound with roaring guitars and fast tempo. Chariot’s songs have that subtle
(and sometimes not so) feel of madness, and ‘Light and Shadow’ develops it in
its own way. Now Gumi takes some part in it too and she does it excellently!
Zhànchǎng Yuán
Yāojing (or Senjougahara Yousei if you try to read his nickname in Japanese)
seems to befallen in love with Xīngchén. Well, if you haven’t heard the latter
name, this Vocaloid is better known as Stardust in Western world. OK, what’s so
special with her?
The best
way to find out is to listen to the latest Senjougahara’s release, the
remastered version of “Sháo yīn fù”. The song dates back to 2012, being one
of the first Vocaloid works of the producer. So it gets a general clean-up, few
touches here and there, a pinch of extra djent spiciness, nothing
extraordinary. But most importantly, it
features miss Xīngchén!
And I’m
impressed, gentlemen. Xīngchén is a pure ear candy. The most amazing
achievement of V4 technology is its ability to make all technical matters
irrelevant. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from
magic, a wise man said. And few men can resist Xīngchén’s magic appeal! :)
Junto
Kurokawa, the man who authored some deliciously sick songs in the past, is back
with another Vocaloid release. I wish we heard new stuff from him more often, one
song in twelve months is damn too little! Hell, even VMW updates more
frequently! ;)
More
importantly, it’s not hip-hop this time. Seriously, who’d wish to hear hip-hop
more often? No, ‘Ensei’ sets new highs in the deliciousness and sickness of the producer’s sound. Make no mistake, it
is prime djent, one-string-picking-abusive and boasting of down-tuning beyond
any rationality :)
Yuzuki
Yukari seems to be hardly moved by all of this, sounding a bit cold and
distant. Yukari performs for the third version of the song. The first one was
released a long, looong time ago, in May 2008. You won’t find it or the second
version anywhere on Nicovideo or on the producer’s website. The most likely
reason? They were not sick enough! ;)
An
exquisite piece by ZOMiG (sound) and Zihan Lianmeng (lyrics). It opens with a
stylish and totally authentic intro on native Asian instruments which sets the
special mood for the whole song. Basically, this Rondo clearly demonstrates
that to make good prog metal you need one thing: style. Not technique, not some
elitist attitude, not fapping to John Petrucci, just plain old style. And maybe
Yuezheng Ling too. Well, nobody says she isn’t stylish :) In fact, she sounds
awesome!
The debate
is still open whether you should add djent into this mix :) ZOMiG throws in
just a pinch of it, and I like the outcome. Let’s call this effect ‘synergy’ :)
Yokomin started producing Vocaloid music not a long time ago – only one year has passed since the first his work was published on Nico. But here we are – an EP’s already out, presented at Comiket 86 event August, 17 and sold out the same day. The latter came quite unexpectedly for the producer himself – 80 copies seem to be a horrific amount for the first time :) Well, my congratulations!
I must be a spoiled person, but the EP’s title… Don’t you find it a bit… eh, too customary? Well, perhaps that’s because it’s in English (Yokomin tends to name his songs in English as well). Some “Anata ga kibou suru tokoro” would sound alien enough to pass :)
The cover art, drawn by the expert hand of Gonmaru-san, must’ve contributed to the success substantially. See for yourselves.
Guess who's back? You won't believe me, but mstk-san (masataka, for the sake of clarity) has released his next Vocaloid work! Yeah, the second one, and three years after the first. You might have heard it – called “Hiatus”, which somehow explains the long hold-up :)
The new work’s genre is different from the past – it’s nu metal, not post-hardcore. But the upbeat chorus continues to be producer's distinct mark. The guitars sound particularly evil here. And Luka’s vocals are just outstanding – a rare example for this vocalist and therefore very appreciated.
Not three months has passed since the release, and Kokone-chan finally gets onto respected VMW pages :) So it’s a debut of Kokone on VMW as well as debut of Setsuma-P as Vocaloid producer. What can I say? Nice post-hardcore with lovely synthetics patterns and rather unpolished percussion part. The guitars are over-compressed a bit, but nobody seems to care about over-compression now anyway ;) The final is pretty dense.
Kokone sounds excellent... when she’s singing in Japanese. And Kokone Engrish is so fukken Engrish you might start pitying the poor girl… :)
Excellent musicpiece from ninigi project! Bold and dynamic hard’n’heavy with some naughty metalcore accents. And Gumi to breath life into this. So don’t be fooled, nothing is lost here! :)
Producers were unwilling to give us true and potent j-rock recently, so the fresh blockbuster from H’aven project (and Jiro personally) is quite timely. The style is much closer to hard rock, only ‘classic’ hard rock is not nearly as insane :) Vigorous guitars (lead by Pibo-san) and wonderful lively IA’s singing fit together perfectly. By the way, vocal part is rather complicated and could pose a challenge to a human vocalist :) Damn them robots! ;)
