While the mood of this hard rock song isn’t exclusively melancholic, there are some certain somber notes around. Anyway, the visuals of ink dissolving in water may just set the right atmosphere… at least if you like to watch dissolving ink ;)
A debut
work by SUISO laboratories. ‘Oxygen’ is a blissful hard/j-rock song featuring
vivid GUMI’s vocals as well as a bit over the top instrumentals :) Enjoy!
No, this track
seems to be unrelated to ‘Sleeping beauty’ made by 164 back in goode olde
2008 which was somewhat popular at the moment. The producer of today’s song,
lovin-san, labels his piece 'dark fantasy hard rock’. While I wholeheartedly agree
with ‘hard rock’ part, and maybe even with ‘fantasy’, I can’t feel any specific
‘darkness’ in it :) Anyway, the song has decent production compared with the
majority of Vocaloid hard rock works.
This piece
of mid-1970s hard rock may not fit VMW standards in terms of sound heaviness
but it more than compensates it in another important area. Namely, awesomeness.
‘Yoi-Yoi’ is literally overloaded with awesomeness in every its moment! And we
should thank the virtuous vocalist for the great part of it. Ninihi-sama truly
makes wonder with the power of Miku’s ‘Yoi-Yoi’! :)
In case if
you’re tired with Miku’s laments, Koke-P can offer you… well, IA’s laments. And
no, it’s not simply a matter of personal preferences. ‘3 minutes to dawn’
places IA just in another league of lamenting, so to speak. Because, first, it’s
hard rock; and second, it’s stylish hard rock – a beast as rare as a unicorn (and
maybe even as a flying pony). Jaunty atmosphere and skillful work with IA’s
vocals come as bonus features.
For a
warm-up, let's take a look at the new tune from Mode-san. Well, it’s really
warm (and old-skool) for post-hardcore. Also, it’s post-hardcore about a ninja.
Because emo ninja is totally legitimate concept! ;)
Miku has katana in her right hand, wakizashi in her left hand and, naturally, zettai ryouiki somewhere in between. The question is: which is more dangerous? :)
A piece of
light-hearted hard rock from yuuhi & his friends. IA leads the way; Ling is
not that prominent here. There’s also version (same link) with live vocals by Miss
uzakin which is also very enjoyable. Btw, the shot at the end of the video
shows the team worked at it – great feature!
High-charged hard rock cover of Yairi’s “Eien Variation”, made by cillia & niki. IA was replaced by Meiko, and I think the guys have chosen a right vocalist! And right mood, too :)
An excellent HM/HR piece by SHINDEHAI (lyrics by (V)・∀・(V)-san). Great arrange with mighty guitars and a lot of attention to Luka’s vocals. The title translates as "Spring drizzle".
Meiko-san isn't a frequent guest on VMW, so her songs are always welcomed! In this piece from Shikabane-P (aka Shohei) Meiko (V3) does nice dynamic hard rock. The instruments are too much synthetic in my opinion, but the composition and the vocalist are gross enough to overcome this little drawback.
Freaking awesome old-school! The flawless mix of hard rock and art rock, with the sound from late 1970-s. Miku murmuring into the microphone is so stylish I desperately fell in love with this :)
Producers were unwilling to give us true and potent j-rock recently, so the fresh blockbuster from H’aven project (and Jiro personally) is quite timely. The style is much closer to hard rock, only ‘classic’ hard rock is not nearly as insane :) Vigorous guitars (lead by Pibo-san) and wonderful lively IA’s singing fit together perfectly. By the way, vocal part is rather complicated and could pose a challenge to a human vocalist :) Damn them robots! ;)
A masterful and soulful grunge from Reset. Lots of instrumental lines, complicated effects and excellent Lily’s vocals. She seems to be a little off the spotlight, but she rocks anyway!
Heavy metal with some inclusions from louder genres by Arai-san. Miku is jubilant like she’s won in a lottery 1’000’000 leeks :) No, seriously, I haven’t heard such a gleeful singing for quite a while!
Arai says the song is about a love to tobacco. He warns us that, you know, the song’s just the song, he doesn’t promote heavy smoking and stuff… Why, we definitely got the message, Arai – tobacco is bad, weed is much better ;)
An interesting sound from Babao. Plain 1980-s, british hardcore/post-punk, I was quite surprised! :) Some prog is present too. Of course it’s that prog, from that era… Can’t say whether living fans of this music still exist… ;)
The title translates as Wait, wut?!

Second Lily's song in a row, I'm glad for her! :) And hard rock again! Hika Lilith has made it quite powerful, and Lily’s part has cool ‘rocky’ flavor that suits the music nicely.
